Mind, body, spirit

I always tried to live a somewhat healthy life style and exercise just enough to keep my weight in check (I was never an athlete and gyms intimidated me).  Exercise meant running ~3 miles, ~3 times a week. As I neared 40, and was traveling a lot for work, I decided I needed to do more, I needed a change – I was gaining weight and felt sluggish.  Additionally, based on a family history of knee issues, I decided running needed to stop (and I didn’t love it). I overcame my fear of the gym and joined one around the corner from my house. I got a personal trainer and started trying out all different exercise options (e.g. HITT, Spin, Cross-fit).  In addition to that, I started using a yoga app; yoga was something I always wanted to try, but that too intimidated me. When my gym began offering evening yoga classes, I looked at that as an opportunity to step away from the app and into a class. Through this journey, I discovered how much I loved working out… It cleared my mind, made me feel better than ever and my body began to change.  Of everything I tried, yoga resonated with me the most – it truly worked on my Mind, Body and Spirit. I was changing not only physically, but mentally as well. Yoga made me realize anything was possible (“I can’t” no longer had a place in my life). I continued other exercise practices, but yoga became my passion. Fast forward three years… My desire to deepen my own practice also became a desire to share with others the impact yoga can have.  I completed my 200 hour teacher training in 2019. It was an amazing journey and I am excited to have the opportunity to lead others in the practice. Yoga Sutra 1.1. says: Let the exposition of Yoga begin. Each time we come to our mats it’s an opportunity to learn and to connect. The learning never ends.
